The acquisition of their first machine from Moore Machine Tools, a 13′ x 350T Genius Pro press brake, marked a significant turning point for Hausman Metal Works & Roofing. This wasn’t just an upgrade; it was a strategic investment in precision, efficiency, and capability. The press brake’s 350-ton capacity and 13-foot bending length allowed Hausman to handle larger and thicker gauge materials with ease, reducing the need for outsourcing larger jobs and improving in house throughput. Equipped with advanced features like front CNC sheet followers, the machine offered unparalleled support for heavy or long sheets, preventing sagging and ensuring consistent bends across the entire bed length.

Further enhancing its capabilities, the Genius Plus press brake came with advanced rear sheet supports, enabling support on the rear side of the machine for thinner materials. This precision setup minimizes material waste and reduces the need for rework. This has directly contributed to Hausman’s cost-efficiency in production. The included CNC crowning system automatically compensates for deflection in the machine’s bed during bending, ensuring uniform bend angles along the entire length of the workpiece. The intuitive Delem DA-66T control, with its 2D graphical programming and collision detection, streamlined complex bending sequences, making operations more user-friendly and efficient, while also allowing for quicker setup times and higher productivity. This initial purchase laid the groundwork for a successful partnership, demonstrating to the Hausman team the transformative impact of investing in high-quality, technologically advanced machinery.

Hausman Metal Works & Roofing also invested in a 4 kW Nukon Eco S Line fiber laser cutting machine. This machine represented a leap in their cutting capabilities, offering unmatched speed and precision for a wide range of materials. The 4 kW power source allows for efficient cutting of various metal thicknesses, from thin gauge sheets up to 3/4″ thick plates. This capability drastically reduced processing times compared to traditional cutting methods. Additionally, fiber lasers are renowned for their ability to cut highly reflective materials such as copper and brass with superior edge quality, which would have been challenging or impossible with older technologies. The Nukon Eco S Line’s compact design and energy efficiency furthered its value, providing high output while minimizing operational costs and footprint – a perfect fit for growing businesses focused on both performance and practicality. The addition of the fiber laser significantly expanded Hausman’s ability to produce intricate, high-quality metal components in-house, enhancing their versatility and accelerating project completion.

However, the President of Hausman Metal Works, Scott Hausman, is already looking towards higher laser capabilities.

“Most people would consider this (4 kW Nukon Eco S Line) a lifetime machine, or one they’re going to run. I looked at this as an entry level, and I really am looking forward to figuring out how we get a 12 kW in here sooner rather than later. We’re tapping out at 3/4″ and it seems like our work just keeps getting heavier…we want a do it all to cut 1″ up in stainless, aluminum.”
